Didn't want to start my larger painting today, so decided to paint another smaller flamingo. Every reference photo shows the variety of flamingo colors. Some are almost white, while others are almost brick orange-red. Most are a shade of pink, and all have combinations of different shades of colored feathers. Sunflowers and Dragonflies

Today I started a new painting, well, I painted the value study. I hope to maintain the feeling of light and shadow and depth as I paint in oils all the vibrant bright yellow colors of the sunflowers. Check in tomorrow for another update.

The last flamingo I painted was a big hit with everyone and I have been trying to paint one ever since... but so many other paintings keep coming up. Well late this afternoon, I started this lovely creature. She is shy and demure, but also confident in her pink beauty. She was a paler pink flamingo, my last painting had a more deep orange cast to its feathers. Contact me to purchase this painting.

This painting has truly been evolving over the last week and a half, as it went from one kind of experimental piece morphing into another. My intent was to have a piece with more contemporary elements and I started off by first painting my board in geometric patterns of varying hues of colored paint. I really liked the effect, but somehow it didn't go with my bouquet of flowers..... The tree branches and birds were always on the scene too along with our noisy lizard. Somehow the painting all pulled together today. It is an unusual painting for me, but a happy piece none-the-less, with lots of texture and happy blossoms .... Floral -- Zinnia Garden

Just started this new floral garden piece, I did a quick value study on the painting board and will paint this piece tomorrow.

 
OK, day two working on this painting, roughing in the colors, textures and lay out of the painting. I worked till past dark so this photo is not very good, the painting is more vibrant. (I had to use the flash) Now the painting is about 1/2 finished. I changed the position of the butterfly so it would tie in with the flowers more, I didn't get a chance to even start on the bumble bee yet, and still have lots of work to do on the flowers.

Finished this painting today. Again, I worked till the light was gone so had to take a flash photo of this painting. Colors are a little more vibrant than what you see here today. I will try to photograph outdoors tomorrow.
