Circling in Winter Light - Day 2 of the painting challenge

 Circling in Winter Light

6x6, original oil

I took some reference photos yesterday while walking  at Sand's Lake and there abouts. The light is very bright for a few hours in mid afternoon and seems to make these lovely ducks glow. This is day 2 of the painting challenge. I spent part of the day doing value studies for 4 upcoming paintings. Below you see the quick study for  'Circling in Winter Light'.

Birmingham Bouquet - Day 1 of painting challenge

Birmingham Bouquet

6x6 original oil

Today is the first day of my new painting challenge.  I started the day having brunch with friends, then went riding my bike; although the streets still had some snow and ice. The day was moving fast. I made it into the studio in time to paint this new floral. It was inspired by the songs on the radio. A country station, with songs about Birmingham, AL.

Another year, Another painting challenge....

I've signed up to participate in Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge. The challenge starts Jan 1, 2014. I also participated in the challenge in January of 2013. This can be a big challenge to complete these paintings every day. Whew. Now what to paint.....

At least I now know what I will be doing on January 1st, 2014. What will you be doing?
