Philippe, from France, excels at creating riddles which in turn lead to treasure hunts, etc...He often uses references to paintings and painters. He lives in a quaint town in France that was often visited by famous artists. He sent me this riddle in English to solve, but I was unable to solve this riddle. Can you solve it? I will post the answer next week.
He will be using one of my paintings (7 Geese in the Library Garden) as the image for a large riddle and treasure hunt that will start in France in late September. If you speak French, this would be a fun activity to try and solve here in America. He said most folks work in teams to solve these games. Any puzzle solvers out there? One of the prizes will be a Giclee print of my painting, "7 Geese in the Library Garden".

Pallet Knives
Pallet Knives
I was in Denver yesterday making a supply run and shopping trip, and having lunch with a dear friend. While shopping for art supplies, I saw 2 pallet knives I wanted to add to my collection. I paint a lot with pallet knives. My favorite old standby painting knife is on the left-hand size of this photo. My newest painting knives are the two on the right-hand side of this photo. I can hardly wait to experiment with them.

7 Geese in the Library Garden
7 Geese in the Library Garden
12 x 18
oil on wood panel
This painting is for an upcoming show at our local Salida library called 'Between the Covers'. As you have probably guessed, all the art has to have something to do with books. I decided to combine a couple of my favorite subjects... flower gardens and geese. The show opens in May. This painting will be for sale at that time.... so check back! (Price of the painting will be $225.00)

2012 Second Art Walk Donation
Backyard Geese
4 x 4 inches
Donation
Here is the second piece I am donating to the Salida Art Walk auction in June. I probably should have just concentrated on one goose for this painting... but they always seem to travel in packs. These 4 x 4 inch paintings are sooooooooooo small to me. I can appreciate other artists who paint in this format all the time. Copyright 2012, by the artist, Susan M. Spohn

2012 Art Walk Donation
Floral Happiness
4 x 4
Art Walk Donation
This resplendent floral painting is a donation for the Salida Art Walk held each year in June. I plan on painting 2 pieces, and this is the first one. Last year I painted geese and they were very popular. This year, I wanted one of the paintings for feature one of my pallet knife florals. This year the Art Walk auction will allow anyone who wants to buy the painting ahead of time for $160.00 to do so and not have to participate in the live auction.
