Jacob's Ladder Garden

Jacob's Ladder Garden
18 x 30
Oil on Board
This wonderful painting was inspired by a photo of Jacob's Ladder,a perennial that is planted in a lot of gardens in these parts. If properly cared for, the flower heads are large and lush and last a long time. I like the bright pinky-red heads of the Jacob's Ladder along with the contrast of the yellow grasses with the blue saliva's in the background. If you would like to adorn your walls with this wonderful garden, please contact me by e-mail, and leave your shipping information. This painting sells for $450.00 and includes shipping in the continental USA. E-mail-- susanmspohn@gmail.com

Magpies in the Poppy Garden

MAGPIES IN THE POPPY GARDEN
2 ft. x 4 ft.
Oil on Board
I have been painting this fun piece for several days now while I worked on other projects. My original idea consisted of painting these wonderful poppies in a garden piece, but as I worked on the garden, suddenly a hand-built bird bath started to appear. I had seen this wonderful bird bath in my wanderings this summer... and now it became part of this painting... a day later, and the magpies walked into the painting.... That is the wonderment of painting! Or at least my paintings. These paintings are truly creations, and they create themselves. I feel I am just there to hold the brush and figure out how to make all these elements work together. This fanciful painting sells for $1,500.00. Send me an e-mail for more information and to leave your shipping address. Wouldn't this make a wonderful painting in a child's room?

And of course, a magpie!

Dahlia Garden Diptych

DAHLIA GARDEN -- DIPTYCH
30 inches x 5 ft
Oil on Board
The size of this painting puts you right in the middle of this garden. The colors glow, and are set off by the dark background. It is painted in oils on two 30 x 30 boards. This is the arrangement I like best, but it can also be arranged with the orange-red dahlia's in the middle.  This painting sells for $2,400.00 and includes shipping in the continental USA. Purple Beebalm

 PURPLE BEE BALM
7x7 Oil on Board
Purple bee balm is a wild form of the plant. Since we had ample moisture this summer, there were many stands of this plant blooming around town. I find the color of it's blossoms amazing, and against the vibrant blue of our Rocky Mountain skies, it is stunning! This painting sells for $85.00 and includes shipping in the continental USA. Peach Poppies

PEACH POPPIES
15 X 15 OIL ON BOARD
Who can resist a lovely bunch of peach poppies? The color alone seems to stop folks in their tracks to stop and admire them. I found these poppies in a lovely street side garden earlier this summer. For this painting I used an oil wash for the background, brushwork on the background flowers and a pallet knife for the poppies in the foreground. This painting is varnished and ready to hang, no frame is needed. Price: $295.00 and it includes free shipping in the continental USA. Milkweed Garden

MILKWEED GARDEN
15 X 15 Oil on Board

A rather unusual plant is making it's way back into the perennial garden and that plant is the milkweed. Although this plant was quite plentiful in my childhood, the use of modern herbicides has had a major effect on it's decline. The round red buds of the milkweed open to pinky-white star-bursts in round clusters that hang from this plant, like a Christmas ornament out of season. However, the best part of the milkweed would be the lush green leaves which provide food for the caterpillar of the monarch butterfly. And since I love butterflies, this is a perfect addition in today's garden. This original oil painting sells for $295.00 and includes free shipping in the continental USA. Nasturtiums

This past summer I took quite a few photos of one of our community gardens, which luckily had lots of flowers growing as well as vegetables. One flower that is usually planted in vegetable gardens are nasturtiums. Not only can you eat the flowers, but they also offer some pest control also. This 7x7 oil on board painting is titled simply, "Nasturtiums" Price: $85.00  Shipping fees are included for the continental USA. Aspen Study

Today's painting is a study for a possible larger piece. It is an oil painting on watercolor paper measuring 15 inches long by 4  inches wide. This painting is mounted on board and then floated on another board, painted black with a natural wood decorative bevel. I have just titled it "Aspen Study". Sometimes, you look at a photograph and think it is pretty good as a reference photo, but when you paint you often have to make adjustments. This painting follows the photograph with all the basic shapes. I will probably group the aspens a little more if I eventually do a larger painting. You can purchase this piece for $275.00 You can pay using the BUY NOW button below. Contact me using my e-mail address for questions and to give me your shipping address. susanmspohn@gmail.com

This piece has been cropped and mounted on board, then floated on a 1/2 inch board that is painted black with a natural wood bevel. Contact me for shipping & purchasing.

Lake O'Haver Aspens, Landscape

Today's painting was taken from a photograph I took at Lake O'Haver while I was hiking about a month ago. It was great to see the fall aspen colors. This scene caught my attention because of the deep shadows in the background. Since I have a thick stack of these photos... I will probably be painting some more of them later this winter. This piece measures 17 x 17 inches it is an oil painting on watercolor paper. Price: $185.00  Shipping is included in the continental USA. Please contact me regarding your shipping address, etc. You can pay for the painting using my PayPal account below. Thanks!
