Frantz Lake Autumn, Day 19 of the Painting Challenge

Frantz Lake Autumn

6x6, Oil

$50.00

This fall landscape was started yesterday, but ran out of painting time. There is a nice contrast between the thick pallet knife strokes on the land and the calm of the brush strokes on the water.  You can purchase this painting from my website. SpohnStudio.com
The value study for this painting is below.

Day 21 of the Painting Challenge... Value Studies

Only time to complete 3 value studies today. But this saves me time in the long run...

Tomorrow I will be able to finish a painting and maybe start a second one.

Which should I choose to paint tomorrow? Leave a comment...

Circling in Winter Light - Day 2 of the painting challenge

 Circling in Winter Light

6x6, original oil

I took some reference photos yesterday while walking  at Sand's Lake and there abouts. The light is very bright for a few hours in mid afternoon and seems to make these lovely ducks glow. This is day 2 of the painting challenge. I spent part of the day doing value studies for 4 upcoming paintings. Below you see the quick study for  'Circling in Winter Light'.

A couple geese going for a swim at a local small lake. I have been using a scrubbing technique with my bristle brushes lately to achieve a look that almost mimics a pastel painting. Visit my website to view more paintings and cards, and to purchase these cards. $25.00  SpohnStudio.com
