Poppy Patch & Summer Abundance

Poppy Patch

6x6, Oil

The poppies are not blooming here yet... but they are unfurling their leaves and getting ready for their springtime growth spurt. I love to watch poppies nodding their heads in the summer breezes, their delicate paper like petals tossed all about. Summer Abundance

6x6, Oil

Most of my gardens are over-flowing with flowers. I cannot pull out a weed flower, which is a self-seeded flower. I seem to always have grand plans for a perfect flower garden and then it becomes over crowded with self-seeded plants.  It all seems to work out just fine though... I have plenty of flowers.

Aspens often blend in with the color of the grasses and bushes. Everything seems to be a yellowish gold set off by the sparkling blue Colorado skies. To view more of my aspen series, visit my website: SpohnStudio.com

Summer Zinnias

Summer Zinnias

6x6 original oil

Birds, butterflies, moths and bees all love zinnias. These wondrous flowers come in all sizes, but I tend to favor the large ones. Next year I plan to start them inside growing them from seed. This past year I planted the seed in pots in the late spring. They did sprout and have grown tall and sturdy. They are flowering now and I am amazed at their beauty and their size.
