Sunday Sunflower Paintings

Sunflowers Orange and Yellow, 6x6, Oil

Back to painting sunflowers! Love sunflowers. They self-seed each year in my sidewalk garden. The birds and squirrels just love them. The tourist do also, often pausing on the sidewalk to take photos of themselves in front of the garden. Visit my website to view more floral paintings. SpohnStudio.com

Sunflowers- In the Pink, 6x6, Oil

This is a different take on the magical seed heads for sunflowers. Often times the seeds form colored spirals, this time I took the liberty to fantasize them a bit with bold colors. A joyful, happy painting.

African Violets in Maverick Pot

African Violets in Maverick Pot

6x6, oil

I now know why I am interested in this series of violet paintings. It is because of the unique pots featured in these paintings; as well as the beautiful flowers. They seem to go hand in hand. Visit my website to view more floral paintings. SpohnStudio.com

Aspens- 3 Tall Aspens

Aspens- 3 Tall Aspens

Love painting these aspens with my painting knives. These new aspen paintings have lots of rich texture. I think they will make a nice grouping also. Visit my website, Trees, to see more of these paintings.  SpohnStudio.com

I am still working a bit on this painting. I am letting it breathe for the rest of the day until I put in a few more brushstrokes tomorrow. Below are a few close-ups of this painting.

Painting after revisions:

Yellow Wall Garden

38 x 36, oil

Still looking this painting over... may still add a dab or two of paint.... But it is looking pretty nice at this point. What do you think?

A reference painting for this new one is below, Watching Spiders- B This photo has been enhanced a bit for some prints, so colors are a bit more vibrant.

Aspens- With Friends

Apens- With Friends

22 x 7, Oil

Aspens often blend in with the color of the grasses and bushes. Everything seems to be a yellowish gold set off by the sparkling blue Colorado skies. To view more of my aspen series, visit my website: SpohnStudio.com

Aspens--Dance With Me

Aspens- Dance With Me

22 x 7, Oil

Aspens are magical. They can be straight and tall rising to the sky with shaking leaves; or they can have twists and turns in their trunks like they were frozen while dancing in the night. This painting depicts two of those dancers.  I wonder which song they danced with so rhythmically.

Marigolds and Romas

Marigold and Romas

oil, 6x6

The sun was shining brightly today giving us a reprieve from the rain, wind and clouds. So I sat out on my rooftop deck and painted this plein air painting. Marigolds are still blooming brightly in the tomato pots. I will harvest tomatoes again this weekend to make more sauce. Visit my website to purchase and view other paintings.
