Summer Bliss

Summer Bliss

6x6, oil

Hearing the wind blow and the tumble weeds piling up against the fence, I am reminded of all the flowers in my gardens. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the growing season lasted a lot longer? This was a local flower box spilling with flowers. Visit my website to view more paintings. SpohnStudio.com

Aspens- With Friends

Apens- With Friends

Aspens often blend in with the color of the grasses and bushes. Everything seems to be a yellowish gold set off by the sparkling blue Colorado skies. To view more of my aspen series, visit my website: SpohnStudio.com

Aspens- Ridgetop

Aspens- Ridgetop

22 x 7, oil

The lovely white tree trunks of an aspen always seem to steal the show. Even in this painting, with fall colors in their leaves and in the ground cover, the white barks in the sunlight are memorizing. View more of my paintings on my website- SpohnStudio.com

Aspens- Barks and Grass

Aspens- Bark and Grass

22 x 7, oil

Felt great to be back painting with my painting knives again today. The knives give a lot of texture and also allow for a more interpretive painting. I loved how the grasses and small shrubs in this scene produced a color pattern all their own and the aspen trunks formed vertical ribs touching the sky.
