Sunday Sunflower Paintings

Sunflowers Orange and Yellow, 6x6, Oil

Back to painting sunflowers! Love sunflowers. They self-seed each year in my sidewalk garden. The birds and squirrels just love them. The tourist do also, often pausing on the sidewalk to take photos of themselves in front of the garden. Visit my website to view more floral paintings. SpohnStudio.com

Sunflowers- In the Pink, 6x6, Oil

This is a different take on the magical seed heads for sunflowers. Often times the seeds form colored spirals, this time I took the liberty to fantasize them a bit with bold colors. A joyful, happy painting.

Small Yellow Daisies

Small Yellow Daisies

Aspens- Barks and Grass

Aspens- Bark and Grass

22 x 7, oil

Felt great to be back painting with my painting knives again today. The knives give a lot of texture and also allow for a more interpretive painting. I loved how the grasses and small shrubs in this scene produced a color pattern all their own and the aspen trunks formed vertical ribs touching the sky. Pink Cosmos

Pink Cosmos, 6x6, oil

Waiting on some white oil paint so I can continue with my large painting, so I painted a small 6x6 inch painting instead. I like the joyful mix of colors as the pink cosmos dance about. You can purchase this painting on my Etsy store front. Also, take a bit of time to view my website: SpohnStudo.com

Ysengrin,the Wolf and Butterflies

Ysengrin, the Wolf, and Butterflies

12 x 12

Oil

This painting was inspired by a friend of mine in France. How do you paint the mystery and magic of a wolf? I was intrigued by the European black wolves. I added the butterflies to soften the image and leave a trace of stories to be told. I will be explaining more about this painting in an upcoming posting. Stay tuned.

Cactus Zinnias

Cactus Zinnias

5.5 x 9 inches

original acrylic indoor/outdoor painting

$65.00

This past summer I had too gorgeous pots of cactus zinnias. I planted them from seed and they grew to 3-4 feet tall in pots that honestly were not large enough for them. I had to brace these pots between heavier ones just to keep the zinnias upright. But they did have such beautiful flowers. This is one of my new indoor/outdoor paintings. You can purchase and view more of them on my other website:  SusanMSpohn.com
